Reed Reunion

The Reed Family got together over Memorial weekend for a cousin's wedding and some family time. We packed the weekend with lots of activities. Rehearsal dinner and dancing, Johnny and Patti's wedding, eating at Babe's Chicken, trip up to Pottsboro where we celebrated Skylar's 2nd birthday, relaxing and fishing at Grandmama and Grandpapa's house! It was fun and great to see everyone.

Olsen

We would like to introduce you to a new member of our family

Olsen

He is a yellow lab, born March 1st. He is named for Olsen Field home of the Aggie baseball team and most importantly the place where Will took me for our first date!

He is a playful puppy. Millie enjoys playing with Olsen but Skylar hasn't warmed up to him yet. She usually jumps on the trampoline the whole time we are outside instead of getting anywhere near the dog. She does like to tell him what to do...Sit Olsen, No Biting, Down Buddy!

Another Reed Baby on the way

We are having another baby! We are due December 5th. Things are going well and we are excited about adding another special blessing to our family.

Millie's Prayer
One Sunday morning on our way to church, Millie asked us if God always gives you what you ask for. Will responded with, God gives us what He thinks is best for us. In a few minutes, I looked back at Millie and noticed that she was praying so I asked her what she was praying for. She said, I asked God to give us another girl!
Her reasoning---so we could be like Ma, Pa, Mary, Laura, and Carrie from Little House on the Prairie!

We will find out if she will get what she asked for in late July! God only knows!

Proud Big Sisters!

Our new House

In May we moved to a new house. We are hoping that this will be our home for many years. The house was built in 1960 and needs some improvements (it's a "fixer-upper"). But it is in a great location and has lots of potential. We are going to tackle the improvements in phases. Will and I sometimes joke that we have 516 phases and counting...Phase 1 consisted of tearing out the wood paneling, putting in new insulation and drywall, texture, paint, build a fireplace mantle and add the stone tiles, refinish the wood floors and add new lighting. Will has become quite the handyman over the years and with a little help from some friends, the girls, and professionals we are finished with phase 1! (The pictures show phase 1 before and after.)

We are living in a 700 square foot guest apartment that is attached to the house until things are finished. We have the kitchen, office, and playroom set up in the main house so we only sleep and get ready in the apartment. It sounds crazy but we are having fun with it and making lots of memories!

Strawberry Picking

When Grandmother came to visit, Aunt Magan thought it would be fun for us to go strawberry picking. We drove to an area outside of Magnolia, TX called King's Orchard. They said the pickings were slim but we picked a box full of delicious berries without any problem. Yummy!

Easter 2009

We celebrated Easter at Gramma Dee's house with the Porter's and extended family. The kids made cupcakes and painted Easter eggs. They enjoyed flying kites and trying to hit a pinata!

Trip to San Antonio

We met Grandpapa and Grandmama (Will's parents) in San Antonio for the weekend. We walked down to the River Walk and then over to the Alamo. We also went to Gruene, TX to eat at the Gristmill on the Guadalupe River.

Cousin's Weekend

The Shell kids came to College Station for the weekend. Millie had been asking for weeks when they would arrive. She was so excited! The kids had lots of fun jumping on the trampoline, shooting baskets, playing in the dirt, making crafts that Aunt Magan brought, eating pizza and watching the movie Swiss Family Robinson. When the time came for them to go back to Dallas the kids tried to hide in the bed under the covers. When we finally got them into the car, we noticed they had an extra passenger. Millie was going to try to go home with them!

The Purple House

The girls love going to the Gage's Purple House. It is an adorable playhouse perfect for a tea party, playing house or as our girls usually do...clean! Millie and Skylar will play for a little while in the house and then they find the brooms and start sweeping the leaves off the front porch. It is so funny. As Will says, the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree!

Valentine's Breakfast

Will and the girls made breakfast for me on Valentine's morning. Belgian waffles, fruit and fruit dip. It was delicious! Thanks!

Kitchen Help

Last night after Skylar finished eating dinner, she got up from her chair and went to the cabinets. She pulled out four small bowls and four forks for each of us. Then, she sat back in her chair and said ice cream! I guess she has figured out that at the Reed home we don't get up from the table until we have had a tasty treat!

Sharing Spaces

Skylar learned how to climb out of her baby bed...she has such a determined spirit. So, we needed to move her into a big girl bed. We decided to go ahead and move the girls into the same room and Will volunteered to make Millie a loft bed so that we didn't lose any floor space. Will and Millie worked together on this project. They made several trips to home depot and spent lots of time hammering away in the garage. The transition has been pretty smooth. I think the girls love being in the same room and we are hoping this will help their relationship grow. It is so cute to hear Skylar say goodnight to Millie...Night, Night Millie!

Christmas 2008

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

We went to my grandmother's for Christmas and then up to Dalhart for a few days. This year, Millie asked for candy canes for Christmas! So, on Christmas morning when she saw that her stocking was filled with candy canes she said...I got just what I wanted! (We hope that her requests stay that simple.)

We also celebrated Millie turning 4! She was thrilled when she found out that her cousins would get to be with her on her special day.

In Dalhart, Will went hunting with Johnathan and Papa. They shot lots of pheasant. We nicknamed Will--Pheasant Man (check out the pictures). I also celebrated my 29th birthday! What a great year. I'm so blessed!

Thanksgiving in Oklahoma

We celebrated Thanksgiving with Will's family. Sarah and Samuel (Will's sister) hosted us, Samuel's family and Grandpapa and Grandmama at their place in Enid, OK. We got to meet our new neice Hannah Swan. She is adorable or as Millie says, precious! Skylar still walks around the house saying Hannah, Hannah!

Lake House Birthday Party

This year my mother turned 60. (I'm sure she loves that I'm broadcasting this to everyone!) My sister, Tara won a Lake house getaway weekend near Wimberly, TX so we decided to make this the surprise destination. We invited mother's side of the family plus us Porter kids so in total we had about 28! The Lake House was AMAZING. The house was right on the lake and had boats, sea doo's, plenty of space to relax and slept 20 in beds. We had so much fun!

Corpus Christi

We went to Corpus Christi for Licia Dodson's wedding. She is a really good friend of ours from college. Her wedding was beautiful and I was able to catch up with the Gaither's and some other college friends too.

The girls have never been to the beach so we thought that this trip was the perfect opportunity to let them experience a Texas beach. They had so much fun. We had to pull them out of the water both days! We also went to the Texas Aquarium to view some of the fish, dolphins and other sea creatures up close and personal. Millie said that she loved the sea turtles best. She said that when she grows up she wants to train the turtles to do flips just like the dolphins!

We celebrated Will's birthday by taking him to our favorite mexican restuarant in downtown Bryan. Then we opened gifts and ate german chocolate cake back at the house! I guess as you age you need more help blowing out your candles!

New Cousins

Will's sisters had their babies! They were born just a few days apart. Now Grandmama and Grandpapa have FIVE Granddaughters! Katy and John have 3 year old Heidi and on September 7th had Laura Elizabeth. Sarah and Samuel welcomed their first on September 4th, Hannah Swan. Millie and Skylar are looking forward to playing with their new cousins.

Labor Day

We took the girls to the pool and sand volleyball courts for Labor Day. Millie loves playing in the sand and Skylar loves eating it!

Painting the Mailbox

Will helped Millie with her first painting project...the mailbox! She showed up with her watercolors so Will had to explain to her that they would be using a different kind of paint for this job! She did great and had lots of fun. Now we just need to paint the top maroon!

Colors

Today Millie learned how to mix the primary colors to make new colors! I think she enjoyed licking the spoons from the icing best!

Trip to Dalhart

We went to Dalhart to visit Papa and Grandmother and for Amber's 10 year high school reunion. We had a great time seeing all the new sites in Dalhart and playing at Papa & Grandmother's house. Grandmother spoils us with her yummy food and Papa loves reading stories to his granddaughters. I am so glad I went to my reunion. I was able to reconnect with old friends and meet their spouses and kids. This was a perfect ending to our summer vacations.

Wedding

We have a new member in our family. On August 2nd my oldest sister Tara said "I do" to Mr. Tag Green! It was a wonderful wedding weekend. They were surrounded by so many of their friends and family. We wish them the best as they begin their new life together.

Millie and her girl cousins were flower girls in the wedding. She and Meredith (also 3) walked down the isle together hand in hand. They totally forgot to drop petals as they went down the isle but once they got to Tag at the alter they remembered and started dropping handfuls at his feet! Quite hilarious....they sure looked pretty in their matching dresses though!

Summer Vacation

We just returned from our summer vacation to Luna, NM. It was so wonderful we can't wait to go back. This is where Will and his family vacationed when he was growing up. He has so many great memories from his childhood and now I can see why. It is the perfect location for playing outside, fishing, hiking and most importantly relaxing in the cooler mountain air! Here are some pictures from our trip. Just the beginning of our family memories in Luna. (Will's grandfather, aunts and uncles, cousins and second cousins are in the pictures too.)
